Day 1

You will depart Johannesburg on a scheduled light aircraft charter where upon arrival you will be met by a representative of Arathusa and transferred to the lodge.

4 x nights Arathusa Safari Lodge fully inclusive of 3 meals per day, 2 game drives per day, 1 guided bushwalk per day and all teas and coffees.

Arathusa Safari Lodge is located within the northern sector of the magnificent Sabi Sand Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

The lodge flanks the bank of a large lake, with each luxury chalets enjoying a 180-degree view of the water. Guests are able to view and enjoy a variety of wildlife (including the big five - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant) from their private veranda. In addition, there is anything from 5 to 20 hippo in the lake - providing 24 hour entertainment.
The Lodge itself is on an 868 hectare property, but with traversing rights on neighbouring land of an additional 4 000 hectare - thus adding to the overall experience, and wildlife viewing in the Sabi Sand Reserve.

The landscape is rich and varied. Open savannahs, riverine thickets, river beds and lush bush vegetation ensure interesting sights around each corner, in addition the perennial Manyeleti River meanders its way through the property.

Arathusa Lodge is small, and intimate, open-plan and designed to blend with the area - both of the lake and the bush: wood and thatch, air and water – an extension of the natural environment. An infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing on a smouldering summer afternoon.

No more than 20 guests are accommodated at Arathusa Safari Lodge. The 10 thatched luxury suites each have a king-sized four-poster bed, bathroom en-suite (with bath and separate indoor and outdoor showers), and a secluded veranda. Additional amenities include a mini bar (stocked with a selection of beverages and snacks), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, mosquito net and tea/ coffee making facilities. However, there are no telephones or televisions in the rooms at Arathusa. Guests are able to make calls from the reception area, and to send or receive e-mails and faxes, should they wish to do so.

Meal times at Arathusa are a sociable affair. From the kitchen guests are treated to sumptuous dishes, fresh produce and home baked confectionary. Breakfasts and lunches are served buffet style, while dinner is tailored to suit the guest's preference. Before the afternoon game drive, guests are presented with a menu of delectable dishes on offer for the evening ahead.

Arathusa prides itself on its leopard viewing. As leopards are territorial, their regular appearances in the area allow the guides to plot their movements and to observe their behaviour. Large herds of buffalo numbering in excess of 300 often find their way to the Arathusa Lake. One need not move far to enjoy the safari experience! Elephants are also seen in numbers. In addition, there is good general plains game in this section of the Sabi Sand Reserve, including giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala and more. This region is also excellent for birders.
