Day 1

Arrive Johannesburg Airport and meet your Island-Safari.com representative, who will introduce you to Mpumalanga and the Lowveld on your scenic 3-hour drive to Sabie. Check in to Böhm's Zeederberg Country House for dinner and overnight.

Situated in the beautiful Sabie Valley between Hazyview and Sabie on the Lowveld Escarpment, Böhm’s Zeederberg Country House provides an ideal setting for complete relaxation in the country, only 4 1/2 hours` drive from Johannesburg.

Relax and unwind next to the sparkling pool or in the sauna and Jacuzzi. The energetic can take an invigorating walk in the heart of nature filled with varied birdlife, guaranteed to work up an appetite for the excellent cuisine offered by the Family Böhm.

The Country House is a perfect base from which to explore the area which is rich in natural beauty. Visit quaint Pilgrim’s Rest, a living museum dedicated to the frenzy of the gold rush days.

Böhm's Zeederberg has got 10 rooms, 8 in the garden and 2 in the Main Building. The rooms are individually decorated and each has a private veranda with views over the majestic Sabie River Valley.

Two rooms share one chalet and the chalets are well spaced to give each other optimal privacy and peace. All are equipped with a mini bar fridge, telephone, coffee making facilities, hairdryer, heater and air conditioner. King size or twin bedded rooms are available. A third bed for an extra person sharing can fit into 4 of these rooms.

All have a bathroom en suite with bath and/or shower, toilet and basin.

Day 2

This morning your host will share with you the splendour of the Panorama Route as you drive through Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world.

View Mac Mac Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the panoramic views from God’s Window. If time permits, we also make a brief stop at the historic mining village of Pilgrim’s Rest.

Continue to Otters Den River Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Otter’s Den is set on an island in the Blyde River at the foot of the Drakensberg Escarpment, and near the Orpen gate to Kruger National Park. The Camp is reached by crossing the River on a suspension bridge. The island itself is some 50 hectare in extent, and has forest, open bush, and wetlands, along with 2 kilometres of main channel River frontage.

This is small, intimate property, designed to accommodate only 10 guests. Accommodation is in chalets, which are a combination of stone/ thatch and canvas. Each has a timber deck, on stilts, which overlooks the River. The chalets are also equipped with ceiling fans.

The main Camp area boasts a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, sundeck, bar, barbecue, and plunge pool.

Meals are a treat, with an emphasis on home grown fruits, vegetables and herbs. And although Angler’s are encouraged to do catch and release, guests are welcome to keep a fish or two for consumption at Camp.

Activities are designed for Nature Lover and Adventurer alike. There are the more gentle pursuits of birding and hiking, or the more adventurous white water rafting. You can also enjoy a Hot Air Balloon excursion over a game reserve.

Hikes are accompanied by an experienced Field Guide. There are some 110 species of trees, and upwards of 200 bird species to be seen, including fish eagle, narina trogon, and African Finfoot. You also have the chance to see some of the smaller species of game – otter, serval, genet, bush pigs, bush babies and small antelope. Hippo and crocodile are often seen under the bridge.

Otter's Den is also an ideal base from which to visit the Kruger Park, the Blyde Canyon Nature Reserve, the Cheetah Breeding Project and the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre.

Anglers can try for a variety of fish species including Largescale Yellowfish, Catfish, Tilapias and even Largemouth Bass.

Day 3

Today you enter the world famous Kruger National Park. Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast 2-million hectare National Park.

The Kruger Park offers a choice of seven camps, each situated in a different section of the park with its own unique flora and fauna: Skukuza, Letaba, Olifants, Lower Sabie, Pretoriuskop, Satara and Berg-en-Dal. Accommodation is in simple but comfortable thatched game park bungalows, with each camp having a restaurant and a small shop. Check in, settle-in and relax in your outdoor bushveld surroundings before enjoying dinner (exact camp subject to availability at time of booking).

Day 4

You will have the services of a private driver/guide throughout your safari and will have the flexibility of discussing preferred routings and travelling times with him/her each day. However we recommend setting off early each morning as the camp gates open (05h30 to 06h00 depending on the season), to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day.

Day 5

This morning transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your 2-hour flight to Cape Town.

Meet your Island-Safari.com representative, who will transfer you to your luxury hotel conveniently situated near the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

Check in at The Waterfront Village Apartments and relax in your magnificent surroundings.

Set against the majestic backdrop of Table Mountain, the world famous Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is arguably South Africa’s most popular tourist attraction. In development adjacent to the commercial section of the Victoria and Alfred a number of Apartment developments. The Waterfront Village offers a variety of 80 such units, all individually decorated for convenience and comfort. The apartments range in size from 65 m² studios, to luxurious 350 m² penthouses.

A centralized reception acts as a service centre which allows you to enjoy the comforts of a hotel in your own home. Guest services include daily housekeeping, concierge desk and tourist information.

The Apartments are located within walking distance to top restaurants, shopping centres and other entertainment. Properties have been immaculately prepared, and are graded between 4- and 5-star by the tourism Grading Council.

All of the apartments have fully equipped kitchens with state-of-the-art appliances, including a washing machine, tumble dryer. There is secure undercover parking. The apartments are all equipped with Satellite television, and DVD players.

For the more active, there are 3 outdoor swimming pools, and The Quarterdeck, which includes state-of-the-art gym equipment, ablution facilities, heated swimming pool and recreation furniture as well as a fully fitted kitchen. Personal gym instructors available by appointment.

Day 6 – 10

Your days are free for independent sightseeing in Cape Town.

We recommend the red Hop-On Hop-Off Bus, which stops at all Cape Town’s key sights and beaches. Start by ascending Table Mountain by cable car to enjoy one of the world’s most famous views. Continue to Camps Bay beach and then explore the shops and many other attractions of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which is also the centre of Cape Town’s nightlife.

Choose one of the many local excursions available such as a visit Robben Island, the infamous prison home of Nelson Mandela. Travel through the scenic Franschhoek Valley where a handful of French Huguenot refugees started South Africa’s now famous wine industry. Visit these historic towns and several different Wine Estates of your choice – sampling as you go! Enjoy a picnic lunch at a wine estate, before visiting a cheetah breeding project and another Wine Estate on the way home.

Day 10

Early morning transfer to Cape Town Airport for your 2-hour flight to Johannesburg and connecting 2-hour flight to Livingstone, Zambia. You will be met at Livingstone and transferred to The Zambezi Sun Hotel.

The Zambezi Sun is the 3 star sister hotel of the Royal Livingstone, and is also set in Livingstone’s Falls Resort – situated within the boundaries of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, overlooking the Zambezi River, and the Victoria Falls waterfall.

Accommodation is in 212 en suite rooms, which are open and airy. The room design draws from African roots, with the deep colours and rounded walls, with Zambian designs in the décor. The rooms either face the natural ‘bush’ or face inwards to a large, cool, landscaped pool. All accommodation at the Zambezi Sun is air-conditioned, and is equipped with electronic safe, Satellite TV and telephone. Most rooms also have private verandas. There is a choice of room types from Standard Suites, to Standard doubles or twins, Standard Queens, and rooms adapted for paraplegic use.

With its warm, earthy architecture, inspired by an traditional walled village and simple finishes highlighted in bright mosaics and fabrics as well as beautiful Zambian artworks and accessories, the Zambezi Sun makes for a vibrant setting.

The Resort is also home to the Daily Activity Centre, where you can arrange your excursions – from River Rafting to cruises, and adrenalin activities for which the area is justly famous (bungee, flying-fox, abseiling for example). Or you might choose a visit to local museums and the craft market.

For the golf enthusiastic, there is the nearby Livingstone Royal Golf Club, which was established in 1908, and fully restored in 2006. The course is 18-holes, in a magnificent setting, with some 118 tree species, and offers a unique golfing experience. You can also make use of the distinctive and genuine Edwardian Club House which extends a very warm welcome. It offers a five star restaurant experience and club bar both of which overlook the golf course.

Days 11 and 12

Today explore on foot the mighty Victoria Falls situated close to your hotel and offering magnificent views.

Later relax by the swimming pool and enjoy the many pleasures of your hotel, or participate in one of the many local activities, such as a helicopter flight over the falls or an elephant-back safari. There is also an interesting local craft market.

On one afternoon, enjoy a Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River to see hippos, crocodiles and the abundant bird life.

Day 13

Transfer to Livingstone Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and journey home. From this point you will depart under your own arrangements.
