From R 14 900 per person sharing Day 1 You will depart Johannesburg on a British Airways flight to Livingstone where upon arrival, you will be met by a representative of Island-Safari and transferred by road to The Bushfront Lodge. 3 x nights The Bushfront Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis
The Bushfront is a quaint little bush getaway in Livingstone on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls. It’s conveniently close to the falls (6km), the Zambezi River (5 minutes), Livingstone Town (5km) and the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park (5 minutes). It’s just off the main road between Livingstone Town and the falls and easily accessible by car. The lodge offers ‘meet and greet’ transfers from the airport. Upon arrival at the lodge you are welcomed by the friendly staff dressed in very colourful attire and led straight to the pool area for a refreshing drink. Once you are sufficiently cooled down you are taken to your chalets. The rooms are big and airy and each chalet is set well apart from the next – ensuring that extra bit of privacy. Prepare to fall in love with the showers. Built out of masses of rocks with a cascading flow of water, these mini Victoria Falls offer a truly African experience. Needless to say, taking a shower might end up being the favourite part of the day! The lodge is very family friendly and the rooms can easily accommodate three beds -great for families with odd numbers. The dining and bar area is also right next to the pool, allowing parents to keep an eye on the little ones while relaxing in the shade. The grounds are surrounded by dense African woodland with abundant (and very active) birdlife. Another big plus is the sound of elephants trumpeting and hippos grunting that can be heard from the lodge. This is truly Africa. The lodge has a restaurant that offers great pub-lunch type of meals. There is also a separate DSTV lounge. The Livingstone/Victoria Falls area is known as the adventure capital of the world - making The Bushfront the ideal base for adventure seekers, sightseers and those looking for something different. Game drives are very popular and the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park is known for its abundant wildlife ranging from buffalo, elephants, impala, giraffe and the endangered white rhino. The lodge is ideal for self-drivers as it is easily accessible in both two and four wheel drive vehicles. Transfers to the various activities are usually included and a taxi service is available from the lodge. If you’re after adventure-filled days and great wildlife viewing followed by good food and a quiet retreat in the evenings – The Bushfront is definitely for you. Following a final morning breakfast, you will again be collected and transferred by road back to Livingstone Airport to connect to your British Airways flight back to OR Tambo. On arrival you will again be met and transferred by road to The Outlook Lodge. 1 x night at The Outlook Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis The Outlook Lodge is one of those establishments, perfectly situated to meet all clients’ specific needs and requests. From discerning travellers, professionals and avid safari enthusiasts, Outlook lodge will meet your expectations. The lodge can be described as a luxury establishment where rooms are large and beautifully furnished. Coffee and tea making facilities are available in every room as well as satellite television. All rooms have their own private bathroom facilities. Public areas such as the lounge and bar area are friendly and unassuming with fireplaces scattered throughout the lodge. The lounge is the ideal place to watch a wildlife documentary, read a book or simply relax with friends and family.
Day 5 This morning you will be collected from The Outlook Lodge between 07h00 and 07h30 in the morning and make your way to the Kruger National Park, arriving around 12h00. Before entering the Kruger you will stop for lunch in one of the small town’s en-route to the park. Your first afternoon will be spent driving inside the Kruger searching for wild animals; you will be accompanied by a professional guide, who will gladly divulge information on the park’s amazing diversity of wild and plant life. You get to the first camp in the late afternoon where you check into your accommodation and have enough time to go for a swim, purchase necessary items at the camps shop, or simply take a stroll around the camp to stretch your legs after a long days driving. Your guide begins preparing the evening meal just outside your chalet, under the stars and served by candlelight. Apart from the cooking your guide is of course available to identify all the nocturnal sounds you hear, and possibly entertain you with some amazing experiences encountered over many years of guiding in Africa. Dinner included
ACCOMMODATION IN KRUGER PARK Day 6 The early morning knock on your door signals the start of your second day in the Kruger. After a cup of coffee and some snacks, your guide packs the vehicle and you begin your early morning drive. It’s still really early in the morning, nice and cool, and a perfect time to spot elusive predators, that at this time of the day are still very active. After a successful morning drive you stop at a picnic spot to enjoy a relaxed breakfast. After breakfast you continue driving, searching for animals. You will find your guide to be a wealth of knowledge not only concentrating on animals but also identifying birds, trees and insects and able to explain some of the park’s fascinating geology. After a full morning’s driving you reach the next camp where you check in and have a couple of hours to relax during the hottest part of the day, when animals are generally less active and hiding from the midday sun. All the camps used also have restaurant facilities so you will be able to purchase lunch. In the late afternoon you embark on sunset/night drive which gives you an opportunity to spot some of Africa’s elusive, nocturnal animals such as hyena, leopard, owls, nightjars, civet, genet etc. Upon your return, your guide has already prepared your evening meal. And has corked the wine which is now sufficiently aired and at the perfect temperature. Sitting outside on a balmy African night listening to lions roaring in the distance, or the whoop of a hyena is a fantastic experience and one which often brings guests back to Africa. Breakfast and Dinner included Day 7 Like clockwork, your guide gently knocks to indicate another early start. As the day before, you start off with a fresh cup of coffee before heading out on the morning drive. Time spent on game drives increases your chances of seeing unusual and spectacular animals, but not only guests wanting to see the best Africa has to offer in terms of the Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo) are catered for, it truly is all spectacular from the huge elephant’s and giraffe down to common antelope such as impala and kudu. Not to mention an amazing diversity of birds. The privilege of being out in the African bush is not something taken for granted. This passion and dedication to Africa will be evident in your guide’s behaviour and enthusiasm. After the morning drive you return to camp and have an opportunity for a midday siesta or just general relaxation time. Kruger’s camps are well established with large, old indigenous trees, housing many different bird’s reptiles and even bats. So it’s nice at this time of the day to also enjoy what the camps have to offer. In the afternoon you head out again on a drive, returning just before the gates close. In total you will do about 6-7 hours driving each full day in the Kruger. This allows enough time to show you many different animals and birds. Once again your guide cooks your meal out under the stars. Breakfast and Dinner included Day 8 Five days in the Kruger allows sufficient time to show you many animals but also afford you the opportunity to go on an exciting morning walk, which lasts about 3-4 hours. The walk gives you an opportunity to experience Africa in a way different to being in a vehicle. Smells and sounds come alive as your senses are heightened and nerves are tingled at the possibility of encountering wild animals on foot. Walks are conducted by trained, professional guides with many years of experience and the necessary qualifications to successfully and most importantly, safely show you Africa from ground level. After your walk, you return to camp, your guide prepares breakfast and affords you some time to relax before an afternoon drive. As on previous days, you return to camp in the early evening where your guide prepares dinner. Breakfast and Dinner included Day 9 Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there and seeing animals. This morning is no exception and whilst you are leaving Kruger today, there is still time for a couple of hours drive in the hope of seeing and possibly photographing animals you have not yet seen. Your guide knows the Kruger intimately and will focus on areas he knows produce animals you still need to see, it’s not guaranteed but you stand a good chance. Sadly after a couple of hours you depart Kruger and make your way back to Johannesburg. But not before showing you some of South Africa’s most spectacular scenery. The panorama route includes Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Waterfalls and Pilgrims Rest, where you stop for lunch. After lunch it’s a good four hours drive back to Johannesburg and you arrive back at your hotel around 18h00.
