Day 1 – Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

You depart from Johannesburg between 07h00 and 07h30 in the morning and make your way to the Kruger National Park, arriving around 12h00. Before entering the Kruger you will stop for lunch in one of the small towns en-route to the park. Your first afternoon will be spent driving inside the Kruger searching for wild animals; you will be accompanied by a professional guide, who will gladly divulge information on the park’s amazing diversity of wild and plant life. You get to the first camp in the late afternoon where you check into your accommodation and have enough time to go for a swim, purchase necessary items at the camps shop, or simply take a stroll around the camp to stretch your legs after a long days driving. Your guide begins preparing the evening meal just outside your chalet, under the stars and served by candlelight. Apart from the cooking your guide is of course available to identify all the nocturnal sounds you hear, and possibly entertain you with some amazing experiences encountered over many years of guiding in Africa. Wine is served and included in evening meals.

Day 2 – Kruger National Park

The early morning knock on your door signals the start of your second day in the Kruger. After a cup of coffee and some snacks, your guide packs the vehicle and you begin your early morning drive. It’s still really early in the morning, nice and cool, and a perfect time to spot elusive predators, that at this time of the day are still very active. After a successful morning drive you stop at a picnic spot to enjoy a relaxed breakfast. After breakfast you continue driving, searching for animals. You will find your guide to be a wealth of knowledge not only concentrating on animals but also identifying birds, trees and insects and able to explain some of the park’s fascinating geology. After a full morning’s driving you reach your next camp where you check in and have a couple of hours to relax during the hottest part of the day, when animals are generally less active and hiding from the midday sun. All the camps used also have restaurant facilities so you will be able to purchase lunch. In the late afternoon you embark on sunset/night drive which gives you an opportunity to spot some of Africa’s elusive, nocturnal animals such as hyena, leopard, owls, nightjars, civet, genet etc. Upon your return, your guide has already prepared your evening meal. And has corked the wine which is now sufficiently aired and at the perfect temperature. Sitting outside on a balmy African night listening to lions roaring in the distance, or the whoop of a hyena is a fantastic experience and one which often brings guests back to Africa.

Day 3 – Kruger National Park to Johannesburg

Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there and seeing animals. This morning is no exception and whilst you are leaving Kruger today, there is still time for a couple of hours drive in the hope of seeing and possibly photographing animals you have not yet seen. Your guide knows the Kruger intimately and will focus on areas he knows produce animals you still need to see, it’s not guaranteed but you stand a good chance. Sadly after a couple of hours you depart Kruger and make your way back to Johannesburg. But not before showing you some of South Africa’s most spectacular scenery. The panorama route includes Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Waterfalls and Pilgrims Rest, where you stop for lunch. After lunch it’s a good four hours drive back to Johannesburg and you arrive back at your hotel around 18h00.

Those guests flying out of Johannesburg International on Day 3 are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19h30 so that there is enough time to get you to the airport.

Please note however that the arrival time in Johannesburg cannot be guaranteed on the last day and we can therefore not be held responsible for re-imbursements of flight tickets, should you arrive later than expected.

On the safaris, you make use of facilities and accommodation situated within Kruger National Park, and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is situated within 10 minutes drive from Johannesburg International Airport. Rooms are tastefully and elegantly furnished to celebrate South Africa’s wonderful diversity of wildlife and spectacular landscapes.

Originally established as an overnight stop for guests embarking on safari, it has developed into so much more and now confidently claims to be a lodge that surpasses international standards and maintains the highest possible levels of professionalism, hygiene and comfort.

Accommodation
The lodge can be described as a luxury establishment where rooms are large and beautifully furnished. Coffee and tea making facilities are available in every room as well as satellite television. All rooms have their own private bathroom facilities.

Public areas such as the lounge and bar area are friendly and unassuming with fireplaces scattered throughout the lodge. The lounge is the ideal place to watch a wildlife documentary, read a book or simply relax with friends and family.

What is included on a safari ?

• Pick you up from your hotel in Johannesburg or Pretoria on the morning of departure and drop you off again at your hotel, or in many cases at Johannesburg International Airport for any onward flights
• Safaris depart with a minimum of 2 persons and depart on any day of the week, which is convenient for you
• All the guides are registered with FGASA (Field Guides Association of South Africa) and DEAT (the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism), some of them even holding level 3 qualifications, which is currently recognised as one of the highest qualifications in the tourism industry in South Africa.
• Whilst on safari you are guaranteed that your guide is experienced, educated and truly passionate about the job he/she is doing. They enjoy showing you Africa and everything it has to offer and have no problems whatsoever departing with the information and experience they have built up through many years of guiding in Southern and East Africa
• The equipment, from cutlery used for dinners and breakfasts right through to our vehicles and camping equipment is of the highest standard possible, and is regularly upgraded and updated to make sure it remains that way
• Vehicles are air-conditioned which is quite welcome during the summer months
• A complimentary bottle of South African wine is offered on the safaris (not camping safaris), served with each dinner
• Dinners are prepared by your guide. Dinners are cooked outside, under the stars and traditional South African meals are prepared giving you a taste of the local cuisine
• We have recognised a few items, which have been in demand by previous clients, namely bottled mineral water, safari caps as mementos of your safari and traditional South African music. We do offer these three items on our safaris for purchase at prices below regular shop prices. Our aim in this venture is not one of profit but rather as a service to our clients therefore the prices we charge are simply to cover the costs of producing these items. To increase our status as a professional company, all these items are branded with Outlook logos and contact details
• Once on safari, practically everything is included. All you pay for is drinks, lunches and items of a personal nature. Having said that the breakfasts are usually such elaborate affairs that most people simply buy a toasted sandwich or small salad for lunch.
• People are encouraged to go on walks in the Kruger and this can be arranged for you, unfortunately due to its popularity walks cannot be included in the prices as they are sometimes fully booked months in advance. Walks in the Kruger will usually cost an extra R 200.00 per person
• Included in the semi luxury and luxury safaris is a night drive. Night drives are not offered on camping safaris because wherever possible you stay in more private bush camps on camping safaris and unfortunately these camps do not offer night drives
• The panoramic route is included on the last day before arriving back in Johannesburg. This includes the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, Lisbon Waterfalls and Pilgrims Rest, undoubtedly some of South Africa’s most spectacular scenery.
