Day 1

Collection is from all hotels, guesthouses and private homes in Gauteng as well as from Johannesburg Airport. You travel via the highveld farmlands to the picturesque Lowveld with its subtropical climate, to Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule Section of the Kruger National Park. After a short break, during which you may unwind at the bar, have a swim or relax in the tropical gardens, you board the open Landcruiser for a Sunset Drive. Your guide will show you various animals and birds and after darkness falls, use spotlights to locate nocturnal species. Dinner will be a typical South African meal in the Boma. Overnight in comfortable air-conditioned en-suite thatch-roofed chalets.

Day 2

Wake at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush experience. Drive to a remote part of the Balule Plains, where you enjoy a 4 hour “ walk in the wild ”. Your experienced field guide will lead you through the bush at a pace you can handle in search of the Big Five. The thrill of following Africa’s large animals until you are close enough to take a decent photo will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges can be acute, notwithstanding the fact that your ranger is adequately armed in case of potential danger. Return to Tremisana at around 11h30 for brunch. Afterwards you may sleep in your air-conditioned chalet or swim. The new Lapa has extensive wildlife magazines. A snooze on a hammock may do the trick! There is also a game viewing Hide overlooking Tremisana Dam.

After High Tea at 15h30, go on an afternoon game drive. Your ranger will be in constant radio contact with the Warden, who will keep you informed of the movements of the game. Unlike Kruger, limited off - road driving is allowed to get a closer view of the Big Five. Return to Tremisana for dinner at around 20h00.

Day 3

Travel to the Orpen Gate of Kruger Park where we board our open Game viewer. The absence of windows and elevated vantage position allow for excellent photographic opportunities. You will have an amazing chance not only to view game but also to listen to and smell the African bush and its denizens. There will be regular stops at picnic spots, rest camps and places of interest. Your experienced ranger will show you many animals and birds that frequent this wildlife paradise. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi regions boast open plains and support large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that attract numerous predators. In fact the zones visited have the highest concentration of lions in Africa!

Day 4

Enjoy an early morning Sunrise Drive on Balule on the Open Landcruiser. After a hearty breakfast, there will be time to purchase some memorabilia from the shop and take your last photos of the luxuriant lush gardens at Tremisana. You then drive to the awesome Three Rondavels and the Blyde River Canyon. Return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport drop-off by arrangement.

NOTE:

For people that are unable to do the walk, Day Two is replaced with a full day safari on an open vehicle in Kruger.

TARIFF includes all transfers, all entry fees, all game drives/ walks, breakfasts and dinners.

Excluded are lunches, drinks and personals.

5 DAY SAFARI ITINERARY

The 5 day safari follows the same itinerary as the 4 day safari.
The additional day’s itinerary is as follows:

After breakfast, drive to the Endangered Species Project where a guided tour gets you close to species such as Cheetah, Wild Dog and Ground Hornbill. Lunch is held at a traditional cultural village where you get to experience the ancient tribal ways and customs of the Shangaan people. After lunch drive to Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for orphaned and injured animals and birds. Your understanding of conservation issues will be greatly improved.
