From R 9 400 per person sharing Day 1 You will depart Johannesburg in your hire car and drive approximately 4 hours to White River where you will spend your first 2 nights exploring the Blyde River Canyon area. 2 x nights Oliver’s Restaurant and Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis.
Oliver’s is situated in the White River Country Estate, and overlooks the Golf Course. The Lodge is also conveniently situated to the Kruger National Park (the nearest entrance gate is only 25 kilometres away), and is also within an easy drive of the Blyde River Canyon, and environs. Accommodation is varied, with 3 Exclusive Rooms in the main house, and a total of 7 in the new extension (6 suites, and a Luxury Loft room). The Exclusive rooms are all individually furnished, and are en-suite with separate shower and bath, and enjoy views of the gold course. There are 4 Luxury Suites on the ground floor of the extension, with private verandas, 2 Executive Suites on the first floor, with open balconies, and the Luxury Loft room, with spacious balcony. All are air-conditioned, have satellite TV, mini bar and snacks, and have tea/ coffee making facilities. The Suites also boast fireplaces and a cosy seating area. Oliver’s boats award winning cuisine, and an excellent selection of continental and Mediterranean dishes, in addition you might wish to sample the fondue (Chinoise) and Swiss raclette in the privacy of the well-stocked cellar. Meals are generally served in the restaurant or on the veranda. You can spend a lot of time exploring the beauties and diversity of the area, but you might also just wish to relax on the veranda, or at the swimming pool. There is also a Wellness and Beauty Clinic, where you can enjoy a variety of treatments and massages. For the more active, there is tennis and squash, and Oliver’s guests also enjoy access to the golf course at member rates. Day 3 Following a morning breakfast, you will depart Oliver’s and drive about 3 hours to Camp Shonga in the Kruger National Park. 3 x nights Camp Shonga fully inclusive of 3 meals per day, 2 game activities per day and all teas and coffees.
Camp Shonga is a small intimate bush retreat built in the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains, offering views over the African Bushveld. Sister Camp to Camp Shawu, it has the added emphasis of guests’ participation in select environmental awareness programmes. The Camp accommodates only 10 guests, in luxuriously equipped tents, with en-suite bathrooms and ball and claw baths, outside shower, ceiling fans, mini-bar, fireplace and private game-viewing deck with recliner chairs and umbrella. The main Lodge area consists of a charming lounge area including a library and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is also a spacious wooden deck from which to sip drinks as the game wanders past. A splash pool makes for relief between safari activities. Located in ‘Big 5’ territory, the ethos behind Camp Shonga is for the guides to share their vast knowledge of varying eco-systems with their guests, so ensuring an all-round safari experience. Camp Shonga welcomes children of all ages and child-care is available upon request. In the interests of safety children under 6 years are unfortunately not allowed on game drives and only those over the age of 12 years are permitted on game walks. Day 6 Following a final morning game drive and breakfast, you will say goodbye to the Kruger National Park and begin your 6 hour drive back to Johannesburg.
